Sovereign Energy’s mission is to catalyze the use of electric vehicles by providing the underlying infrastructure for electric vehicle charging and to advance American energy security by encouraging the use of American electricity to power the transportation sector.

 

Sovereign Energy is committed to developing high quality charging stations that enable our customers to take long vacations, go on long commutes and use their electric vehicles confidently.

Our Team

Maxwell Burden

Founder & Owner

Max is Sovereign Energy’s Founder & Owner. In this role, Max is responsible for all business operations, growth strategies and the overall success of the company. Max has a long history of entrepreneurship and running his own companies. Max is also very passionate about sustainable energy and wrote his post-graduate thesis on the electric vehicle charging market. Prior to founding Sovereign Energy, Max worked at a vertically integrated, utility-scale solar development firm where he gained invaluable business experience and an in-depth understanding of electrical grid operations. Max holds degrees in Renewable Energy Management and Environmental Science from North Carolina State University. 

Nicholas Lirette

Operations Manager

Nick is Sovereign Energy’s Operation Manager. In this role, Nick communicates directly with our customers to ensure an outstanding customer experience & that our services run smoothly. Nick was promoted from web development intern at Sovereign Energy after he demonstrated a strong work ethic and exceptional creativity while developing the company website. Nick is extremely personable and seeks to help people whenever he can. He wrestled for five years at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science and a minor in Studio Art.

Josh Cox

Installation Manager

Josh is Sovereign Energy’s Installation Manager. In this role, he is responsible for customer satisfaction and successful installation of our charging stations. Josh has over eight years of electrical work experience in the pharmaceutical, commercial & industrial sectors. Josh holds an associates degree in Electrical Systems Technology and is fully licensed with the NC Board of Electrical Contractors.
